'Breckrey' scarf - rust
'Breckrey' scarf - rust
Keep out the winter chill with this wonderfully soft scarf, handwoven by Maggie MacLean, from super soft lambswool. The wool is spun in Scotland using green sourced electricity, in a beautiful 200 year old mill.
The pattern in the weave is subtle, inspired by the rusty red roofs on the nearby byres. A range of reds and oranges in both the warp and the weft, create a lovely speckled effect. 'Breckrey' is a scattering of crofts near to Ellishadder and is Gaelic for 'speckled field', which I thought apt for this pattern.
The two short edges are both hemstitched by hand and the long edges have selvedges, rather than a cut edge.
It measures approximately 25cm x 195cm (including the fringe)
Designed and handwoven on the Isle of Skye.
Please hand wash or dry-clean.
